KKCENTERHK REVIEW – WATER DECALS By eeeeknailpolish

Hey fellow polish fans!
*these products were sent to me for review*
I hope you had an amazing weekend and have survived Monday. I had a lovely weekend doing birthday type things like eating cake for breakfast and drinking wine… who am I kidding that’s normal for me most of the year round! I think I have an unhealthy obsession with cake…
I just want to give a quick apology to you all for my slow responses to comments, follows, award noms and the like – I’ve gotta confess that I’m struggling a little trying to keep with all the social media at the min from keeping up with all your lovely blogs, Facebook, twitter and now Instagram ( I am totally bewildered with that one!) but work is taking up a lot of my energy at the min. I have contemplated saying to my work ‘I haven’t got time for this! Don’t you know I have important polish related things to do!’ But unless my landlord will accept nail polish as payment or I can use polish for eating and creating a tasty meal (Kiss Me on My Tulips on toast, anyone?) I’d better just knuckle down ;-)
Anyhoo! have another review to show to you today. KKCenterHK asked if I’d like to review some further products so this time I opted for some water decals :-)
First up is some super cute Skull decals. These cost £1.57 (bargain!) and you get one sheet as shown.
Skull decals
For this mani I used:
  • O.P.I ‘If You Moust You Moust (base colour) 2 coats
  • DRK- A plate
  • Konad black stamping polish
  • Skull water decals from KKCenterHK
  • acrylic bow
  • Seche Vite

Ok first up, apologies for the super-mega-shinyness; I know it’s a little distracting! Not quite sure what my camera was doing! That’s right, it’s my camera’s fault and definitely not operator error…ahem…
Aren’t those skulls cute? Right, the application. First thing to note about these (and like many other decals) is that they aren’t sticky so you’ll need to do the following:
  • paint both your base coat and allow to dry for about 5 mins so that it’s a little tacky. It’s really important that the polish is not too wet. If it is, the solvent in the polish WILL melt the decal (I went though 3 decals before I sussed what was happening! DOH!)
  • release your little decal from its paper prison by dropping it into some water (I use my little dappen dish for this as it’s just the right size) and after about 20 seconds slide it off the backing paper
  • place your decal on your almost dry polish and very gently pat it down making sure you don’t go and dink your freshly painted nails ( I did that too…twice)
  • For those of us blessed (or cursed!) with super curved nails will find that they don’t sit perfectly on the nail. But fear not! Because they react to the solvent in the polish when you add a topcoat they will sort of melt a little and then sit much better on the nail bed.
  • Seche is NOT your friend with these so what I do is apply a bog-standard non fast drying topcoat first (the kind you get with some nail art kits) and then you can add Seche safe in the knowledge that your lovely decals aren’t going to be gobbled up by the ferocious Seche-Monster.
Next up are these lovely Birdcage and flower decals. These are little more expensive at £3.57 but still good value :-)
birdcage decals
For this mani I used:
  • Models Own ‘Blueberry Muffin’ (base colour) 2 coats
  • O.P.I ‘Alpine Snow’ (middle finger) 2 coats
  • Birdcage/Flower decals from KKCenterHK
  • Rhinestones
  • BM 214
  • Konad stamping polish in white
  • Seche Vite

I specifically picked these for the birdcages as they were just so lovely but I love the flowers and the black abstract swirlythings (that’s the technical term for those by the way..ha!)  with the butterflies too.  Application for these was the same as the Skulls; make sure your base coat is tacky and not too wet and don’t use Seche straight on top. The only difference with these was that they are a little thinner and therefore more flexible and lay flatter on my nail.  But once you’ve added your topcoat they again melt into the nail and it goes all smoooooth. Happy days. What I liked about these decals is that unlike some others I’ve tried, they don’t fold over themselves when you get them off the backing paper and become unusable and because they are a little thicker than some others you can use tweezers to pick them up and place them on your nail without fear of them ripping or tearing.
So what do you think? Are you tempted to give them ago? If so, don’t forget to use my little discount code (it’s down the side over there —–>) to get 10% off your order atKKCenterHK.
That’s all for today guys but I will see you soon!
Until next time
