Beauty Angel Special Edition Perfect Makeup Kit By fiercenerditude

Really quick update on my life (or more accurately, my friend's life): OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS. One of my best friends just had a baby girl!

A while back, I was sent an adorable palette from kkCenterHK to review. Trust me, this review is long overdue, but at this point I've tried all of the included colors multiple times, so I can give you guys a very complete perspective.

First off, the packaging. It's sturdy cardboard. Personally, I don't prefer cardboard, but if cardboard palettes aren't a problem for you, then that's obviously not something you'd take heavily into consideration. I love the magazine gimmick. It has a decently strong (but not too strong) magnetic closure. There's a small mirror in the palette, which you can see below.

It even comes with some application tips on the inside cover!

They're all beginner-level tips, but it's an adorable touch. A quick note: one of the blushes broke in transit to me (the bright pink one), and because of the cardboard/foam nature I didn't feel comfortable cleaning it with anything wet.

This palette came with a useless applicator (sponge tip on one side, scratchy brush on the other). I tossed it right away, because it was stained with blush anyway.

There are two 5g blushes and twelve 1.2g eyeshadows in the palette.

The blush that broke on the right (which I'm going to call the 'Fuchsia blush')? I was very impressed with the quality.

Left to Right: Fuchsia blush heavily swatched, Fuchsia blush blended out

It's flattering and neither under or overly pigmented. It's a bright color that blends out very well.

The other blush (which I'm just going to go ahead and call 'Left Blush'? I think it could be better suited for lighter skin tones. I thought, at first, that it might work because it reminded me of Pink Cult, which is a personal favorite. I did a side-by-side below.

Left to Right: Pink Cult swatched heavily, Left blush swatched heavily, Left blush blended out
Compared to Pink Cult the Left blush looks almost peach. In case you're wondering, I chose to call it the 'Left' blush, because I didn't want to type out the 'Peachy Light Blue Pink blush'

Now for the eyeshadows!

I'm going to go at these row by row.

Row 1:
Left to Right: 1, 2, 3, 4
Of all of the rows, this top row was the weakest. These colors were piece-y and not very smooth. 2 made a decent highlight, but the other three shades were fussy.

1 is a white.
2 is a peachy ivory.
3 is a pale pink.
4 is a pale mint green.

Row 2:
Left to Right: 5, 6, 7, 8
The quality from Row 2 is a million times better. These were smooth and easy to work with, and offered excellent pigmentation.

5 is a frosty gold.
6 is a frosty blue pink.
7 is a frosty emerald green.
8 is a frosty orange gold.

Row 3:
Left to Right: 9, 10, 11, 12
Like Row 2, this one was excellent. Great quality, texture, and wear.

9 is a frosty peach orange.
10 is a frosty blue green.
11 is a frosty violet.
12 is a frosty copper red.

The Good:
  • The bottom two rows of shadows are wonderful.
  • The Fuchsia blush is great. Blendable, pigmented and pretty!
  • Cute packaging.
The Bad:
  • The first row of shadows was awful.
  • Cardboard palettes tend to give me pause.
  • The blush on the left was a bit chalky and not very pigmented, unless I shoveled it on.
 The Neutral:
  • The applicator is useless, but that's most of the time.
  • Nifty tips that might be helpful to a beginner on the inner cover.
  • The mirror might be nice for some. I'd rather use a regular mirror, myself.
Overall, I'd recommend the palette only with some huge qualifications. This includes two blushes and twelve shadows on paper, but in reality, there was one nice blush, six nice shadows and one 'usable' shadow. The second blush might work better on lighter skin; I'm not sure. The bottom two rows are excellent frosts, though, so at the price point this might be a good place to start if you don't have any frosts in your collection, or it might make a good gift for a makeup beginner. I personally, wasn't impressed enough for this to be a must-purchase (though I liked the Fuchsia blush very much).

This is currently $15.27 from kkCenterHK.
