Textured Audrey Hepburn Nails & Life Update?! By lalobana

I told you all I would be back with another nail art post, didn’t I?!
I was originally going to post this tomorrow since it would be officially “Manicure Monday” but it’s my first day of school tomorrow and I know I’ll be overwhelmed since I am starting fresh at a new university! Yes, you guys read that right. The last time I spoke about school, I was enrolled at Ryerson University’s school of Journalism. I don’t want to bore you all with details but the program just isn’t what I assumed it to be, nor did I enjoy it. I am grateful for being one of the few to be accepted to this “competitive” program – however, it didn’t meet up to my standards. I found it to be non creative and a huge waste of my money. Essentially at the end of the day, I found myself on style.com every single day in class asking myself why I’m not out and about getting farther in my career – focusing on the entertainment and fashion industries as those are what I wish to enter. Instead, I was out on the streets of Toronto writing stories about politics, murder trials and small fairs happening in the city.
I literally questioned myself everyday and said “Why am I even here? I don’t want to write about politics or anything related to news journalism. I want to be in fashion and entertainment!”. I know that in first year, you have to learn the basics but I knew thanks to speaking to past graduates and upper year students, that you stick with news reporting until graduation, and I personally just can’t handle that when I know I’m meant to be reporting within the fashion and entertainment industries. And to be 100% honest with you guys, I had a feeling before I started school last year that I wasn’t going to enjoy the program. I should have listened to myself and gone for the other offers I received but I pushed myself to take Ryerson’s because of the name and how it’s apparently the best j-school in Canada. I personally think Canada doesn’t have a whole lot to offer when it comes to Journalism (honestly speaking our industry is beyond weak!).
In the beginning of the year, before I started school, I told myself I wasn’t going to settle for less and that it’s time for me to take charge and make decisions that’ll get me farther ahead. Staying at Ryerson would a) get me behind on my goals and b) make me HATE journalism by the end of the four years – yes, it was that dreadful for me that I would have no interest in the field afterwards.
Long story short, I am STILL in a Journalism program – but it’s much more flexible. So don’t fret, I’m still aspiring to accomplish that dream of being a fashion and entertainment journalist – this route will just allow me to accomplish more while in school as well.
ON TO THE NAILS…

I received Audrey Hepburn water decals from KKCenterHK on top of China Glaze’s texture nail polish – I believe the shade is called “Of Coarse”. I actually love how it looks on the nails. It’s a rustic type look.
Like any other water decals, they are super easy to apply. This look took me 10 minutes in total. It probably would have taken less, but I included the amount of time it took for the nail polish to dry. This one in particular takes longer to dry compared to my other polishes. Maybe it’s because it’s textured? Who knows!
Anywho, now you guys are fully updated on my situation with school. I was a bit nervous to tell people when I first left the program because everyone around me said “Oh my god, you’re in such a competitive program. Good for you!!” – for a while I felt like I disappointed myself and everyone around me. But I got over that quickly because I’m determined to have all my goals and dreams accomplished and I’m a hard worker who makes things happen. I’m confident in myself when it comes to my career choices / education choices and I know I truly did the best thing!
